RACES Wednesday 8:00 Minutes for – 15 Feb 2012

Chuck Michels, Chief Radio Operator made the following comments except as indicated:
- Jay Hand is picking up the computer work that Nick was doing.
- Rapid Response Team exercise at Rio Rico – no word that we will participate – this exercise will be eligible for COML sign off.
- RACES will not participate in the DM Air Show.
- AJO exercise August 13th – the proposal is to stay here in Tucson and setup Toad 2 at Mission Road and talk to the exercise participants on AIRS.
- April Rapid Response Team – Border Blast – starts in Nogales – this will be a multi-agency exercise.
Comments made by those in attendance
- Stan – will talk to Fr. Mike – at Tuesday luncheon about the Catholic Diocese working with the the Red Cross for disaster preparedness.
- Chuck – Seminar at Tucson Fire Academy – March 28.
- Dan Donnelly – praised the preparation that the Tubac Fire Department made for the Festival of Arts, specifically mentioning: Mike Lindsay and Dave Jernigan
- Dan Donnelly- Tucson CERT participated in the Tubac Festival of the Arts
- Verizon Hot Spots that the County has purchased for deployment were discussed. Mentioning that they password protected and some of them are still not functioning properly.
- We need to be aware of the very possible heavy fire season coming this summer.
- John Wisner – Office of Emergency Management has been informed that they need to be prepared to be self-sustaining for 72 hours for a Call-Out.
- Tom Long – statewide interoperability revision.
